Ronit Irshai is a research fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem and Associate Professor and head of Gender Studies at Bar Ilan University, where she is a board member of the Reckman Women’s Rights Center and of Kolech, a religious feminist forum.
She published a series of articles on halakhah, theology and gender, Jewish sexual ethics, and Jewish religious feminism. Her first book, Fertility and Jewish Law – Feminist Perspectives on Orthodox Responsa Literature was published by Brandeis University Press in 2012. A second book on abortion was published in Hebrew by Magness press in 2022, and her third book on Modern-Orthodox Feminism in Israel (together with Dr. Tanya Zion-Waldoks) was published by Brandeis University Press in spring 2024.
