North American Jewish life has been profoundly impacted by the events of October 7 and the Israel-Hamas war, perhaps nowhere more so than on university campuses. With a rise in anti-Israel activism and antisemitism, Jewish communities are grappling with whether universities are hospitable environments for Jewish and Zionist students.

In this session, Hartman fellow and senior program director at The Teagle Foundation Tamara Mann Tweel leads a conversation with Hartman fellows Avi Helfand, professor at Pepperdine Law and visiting professor at Yale Law School, Rivka Press Schwartz, associate principal at SAR High School, and Leora Batnitzky, professor of religion at Princeton University, as they consider the responsibilities of universities vis-a-vis minorities and Jewish students, and how Jewish students should prepare to navigate this new terrain.

This session was recorded on March 12, 2024.
