Lorberbaum

A research fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, Yair Lorberbaum has a doctorate in Jewish thought from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a professor at Bar-Ilan University’s Faculty of Law.Yair has served as a guest lecturer at Cardozo Law School, University of Pennsylvania Law School, Princeton University, and Yale University.
In 2011 he published, Disempowered King, a thorough study of the concept of kingship and the powers of the king in Talmudic and biblical sources, against the backdrop of prevalent views in the Roman world.
His previous book, Image of God: Halakha and Aggadah, won him the prestigious Goldstein-Goren Book Award for 2007-2010; the award is bestowed once every three years to the author of the best recent book in the field of Jewish thought.
