Lucy Cohen is a member of Cohort II of the Created Equal Educators Fellowship of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America and the Director of Noam Masorti Youth, UK. Lucy grew up in the movement herself, which built the foundations for her Jewish values, passion for community and work for social justice. Her values inspired and informed Lucy’s work in international development, spending time in Ghana and India, with Tzedek and JDC, respectively. These experiences, particularly working with women, highlighted for Lucy the importance of centring marginalised voices, the privilege of choice and education as a means of empowerment. In her role as Director, as well as an active community organiser, Lucy strongly believes in self-development, the power of people, lifting others around her and being a proud, visible queer, Jewish, woman. In addition to her professional career, Lucy is a burlesque performer and bellydance teacher.
