Beverly Socher-Lerner founded Makom Community in December of 2013 in Philadelphia, PA. They are an innovative and passionate Jewish educational leader who believes that each person constructs meaning in their life based on their experiences and that Jewish wisdom can have huge influence on how we understand those experiences. Makom Community is built around creating learning for families and children that is both joyous and meaningful.

Beverly received a B.A. in Jewish Studies from the University of Maryland (UMD).While at UMD, they researched Israeli Education at Israel’s National Library in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv Education Archives. Beverly was also a fellow at Yeshivat Hadar. They received their M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania in Jewish Education. In their years directing synagogue schools Beverly developed over forty new curricula for students and families of all ages. Beverly lives in Philadelphia with their wife, Naomi, and their two kids, Selah and Erez.
