Dr. Avital Davidovich Eshed is a visiting lecturer on Women’s Studies and Judaism at Harvard Divinity School WSRP and a Research Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem since 2009.

She is a graduate of the Shalom Hartman Institute’s Maskilot program for outstanding women scholars, a former post-doctoral fellow at the Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters (I-Core, Ben Gurion University) and a teaching fellow at Bar Ilan University’s Gender Studies Program.

Dr. Davidovich-Eshed’s research concerns the history of women, gender and sexuality in medieval Jewish culture and the development of these categories in halakha, ritual, midrash, and literature.
