Third group of Melamdim Jewish studies teachers to graduate June 24, 2009

The third cohort of Melamdim graduates will be celebrating completion of their two-year program June 24, 2009, at Shalom Hartman Institute
Dr. Renana Ravitsky Pilzer is the educational director of the Institute’s Center for Israeli & Jewish Identity, and research fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem She works to define the program’s educational direction and the integration of the Institute’s philosophical-pluralistic approach in the program’s curricula and teaching. The third cohort of Melamdim graduates will be celebrating completion of their two-year program in a ceremony to be held June 24, 2009, at Shalom Hartman Institute.
 
The Melamdim teacher training program in Jewish Studies is a joint project of the Hartman Institute and Tel Aviv University, which grants its graduates an MA degree.
 
The evening will open with an address by Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman, who will speak on: "The Challenge of Education – a New/Old Religious Language." After a musical interlude, program heads Rabbi Phil Field and Renana Pilzer will address the crowd, followed by a representative of the graduates.
 
Finally, after the degrees are awarded, Prof. Ron Margolin, the academic and pedagogical director of the Melamdim Program, will round up the evening.
