Members of the Russel Berrie Foundation board arrived at Shalom Hartman Institute on May 28 to visit two schools participating in the foundation-funded Be’eri program.
The Be’eri program, which pioneers a new model for secular Jewish pluralism, works with 11 select schools in Israel to empower educators, students, and parents to serve as change agents active in transforming Jewish studies from a marginal discipline into a cornerstone of secular Israeli education.
The board visited two of the 11 participating high schools – Nahalat Yehuda in Rishon Lezion and Tichon Hadash in Tel Aviv. After seeing these examples of the program’s implementation, they convened for discussions. In addition, they met with the local Be’eri board at the home of Institute Co-Director, Donniel Hartman .
