Jewish Nationalism: From Megilat Ha’atzmaut to the Nation-State Law
The long-term tension between democracy and nationalism in Israel is on the rise, as evidenced in the Nation-State Law and other legislative and political proposals. This year’s annual David Hartman Memorial Conference for a Jewish and Democratic Israel at Shalom Hartman Institute couldn’t be timelier, especially with the April 9 national elections in Israel and similar debates in the United States.
Leading Israeli scholars and journalists will be discussing numerous aspects of this challenging issue throughout the Conference. Journalists are invited to attend the Conference. For more information on the Conference, including speakers’ names and all panel topics, please contact us.
This year’s English-language panel will feature a conversation between Shalom Hartman Institute of North America President Yehuda Kurtzer and Hartman research fellow and best-selling author Micah Goodman. The title of their talk is "Can American Jewry Survive the Rising Nationalism in the US and Israel?" The session will be livestreamed on the Hartman website.
Media are invited to simulcast the program exclusively on their website or TV channel on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact us if you are interested.
