Woman and Family Program at Hartman Institute

On women inside and outside of the family in the Bible, Hebrew literature, Midrash, feminist theory, and life

The Shalom Hartman Institute and Nigun Nashim invite you to the Fall 2010 program, “ A Room (Cheider) of your Own .” This Hebrew-language beit midrash for women will address issues of Judaism and gender:
  • Learn ancient Jewish and modern sources with a group (hevruta) of religious and secular women
  • Address questions of femininity and masculinity
  • Encounter feminist theories
  • Consider change in the fields of gender and Judaism
The beit midrash, which will be led by the Institute’s  Channa Pinchasi – an experienced group and beit midrash leader, doctoral student in the Bar-Ilan University gender program, and Hartman Institute research fellow – will take place at the Shalom Hartman Institute every other Monday (14 meetings), 18:30-21:30, beginning October 11, 2010.
The program’s price is NIS 980.  Participants will be accepted following a personal interview.  For additional details and registration, see: www.hartman.org.il/cheder or contact Channa Pinchasi by email.
