Is there a minimum gift to attend?
The Winter Leadership Conference is a unique gathering for individuals who are deeply dedicated to the mission and future of the Shalom Hartman Institute and is intended for individuals and households who make a minimum contribution of $3,600 for the 2025 calendar year. Your generous support enables us to strengthen Jewish thought leadership and cultivate a more thoughtful, values-driven Jewish future—especially at this critical moment.
What is included in the registration fee?
Your registration fee includes all educational materials, meals, and beverages throughout the weekend. Beginning with welcome snacks on Friday afternoon, all meals will be provided through Sunday breakfast. If you are vegetarian, vegan, or have other specific dietary requirements, please help us plan by notifying us in advance. All food will be certified Kosher.
Do I need a background in Jewish study or Hebrew?
A background in Jewish study or Hebrew is not necessary. Participants come from a range of religious backgrounds with various levels of Jewish knowledge. Hartman scholars teach at a high level, intellectually and philosophically, and do not assume any particular level of Jewish or Hebrew literacy. All texts are translated.
What happens on Shabbat?
We know Shabbat is a special time and we try to accommodate all levels of observance. Optional services (traditional/partnership and alternative) will be held for Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat morning. A traditional egalitarian Mincha service will take place on Shabbat afternoon.
Candle Lighting on Friday, December 12 is at 4:08 pm. Havdalah on Saturday, December 13 is at 5:12 pm

What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel until Friday, November 14, 2025 and receive a full refund excluding a 5% administrative fee. If you cancel within a week of the start date, we will refund 50% of the program cost. If the program is cancelled by the Shalom Hartman Institute you will receive a full refund of registration fees. We cannot cover any costs associated with travel or accommodations and we strongly advise that you have adequate travel insurance.
