Last week, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited Central Command headquarters in the West Bank, and while meeting with officers there called out settler violence as unacceptable and contrary to Israel’s interests. Zamir’s anger is understandable; attacks by Jews against Palestinians in the West Bank have not only risen month over month so far in 2026 and are at over 200 and counting, but there have been more attacks by Jews against Palestinians this year than attacks by Palestinians against Jews, with six Palestinians killed by settlers in March. Three days after Zamir’s warning, dozens of Israeli Jews firebombed Palestinian homes, torched property, and attacked Palestinians on roads in 20 different locations across the West Bank, allegedly in retaliation for the death of an Israeli earlier that day whose ATV was struck by a truck driven by a Palestinian.
