Wellspring Internship & Leadership Opportunities

Wellspring internship and leadership opportunities at the Shalom Hartman Institute allow students to learn with top scholars about the issues that matter most to Israel and the Jewish people while contributing to an organization focused on Jewish peoplehood, Zionism, and the commitment to Judaism as a compelling force for good in the 21st century.

Details

  • Applicants must be a sophomore, junior, or senior (18-22 years old) enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program in North America.
  • Interns are expected to participate in two in-person Leadership Summits, August 19 – 20, 2026 and January 17-18, 2027  (MLK holiday weekend) designed to facilitate job training, foster personal growth, and build a supportive community.
  • Campus Ambassadors are expected to participate in one in-person Leadership Summit, either August 19 – 20, 2026 or January 17 – 18, 2027.
  • Hartman Internship for Camp Staff are expected to participate in the January Leadership Summit 2027.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, we offer three paid internship tracks and an additional paid leadership opportunity.

Internship Opportunities

Hartman Teen Fellowship Madrichim

Are you interested in inspiring the next generation of young Jewish leaders? As a Madrich/a (facilitator) for the Hartman Teen Fellowship, you will support a shevet (cohort) of 15-18 Teen Fellows and help guide them through the year’s educational program. The Teen Fellowship runs from Fall 2026 to Spring 2027.

Internship in Applied Scholarly Research

Do you want to intern with world-renowned scholars researching the most pressing issues facing Israel and the Jewish people today? The Shalom Hartman Institute’s Kogod Research Center for Contemporary Jewish Thought (KRC) offers internships in Applied Scholarship for intellectually curious, motivated students passionate about scholarship and its application of critical questions facing the Jewish people.

Hartman Non-Profit Management Internship

Interns can apply to specific departments within the organization, gaining insights into different facets of Hartman’s operations. These internships offer valuable opportunities for students to refine their skills in areas such as copy editing, marketing, podcast production, and general non-profit administration.

Additional Leadership Opportunities

Hartman Campus Ambassador (Fall Semester/Spring Semester)

Become a Hartman leader on your campus! This semester-long internship begins with an intensive seminar in August 2026 or January 2027. After learning with Hartman faculty and developing a peer network, you will return to campus inspired and empowered to bring these ideas and scholarship to your campus by planning community events and programs or inviting friends and classmates to coffee conversations.

Note: Campus Ambassador applicants must have prior Hartman experience.

Hartman Internship for Camp Staff (Spring Semester)

The Hartman Internship for Camp Staff will launch with an intensive in-person seminar on January 17- 18, 2027, followed by virtual learning and professional development throughout the semester. Camp staff will learn with Hartman faculty and gain the tools to bring meaningful conversations about Israel, Jewish peoplehood, and values to their camp communities. Participants will also have the opportunity for mentorship and networking with Hartman scholars and professionals. Participants will receive a $500 stipend from Hartman, matched by their camp.
