Dr. Shira D. Epstein is a member of Cohort II of the Created Equal Educators Fellowship of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, dean of the William Davidson Graduate School of Education at JTS, and an assistant professor of Jewish education there. She joined the JTS faculty in 2004, teaching courses to master’s and executive doctoral students and serving as coordinator of the Pedagogy and Teaching Concentration. She has received multiple fellowships, grants, and awards in the field, and has published numerous articles and lectured widely about issues in Jewish education and gender equity. She served as the project director for Evaded Issues in Jewish Education, and co-coordinator of the Gender and Jewish Leadership initiative. Shira earned her doctorate in education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and was a Wexner Graduate Fellow.
