Director of Bay Area Programs

Sarah Fields in the Director of Bay Area Programs for Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, where she oversees all strategy, programming, and relationships in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and proximate cities. She joins the Institute with a strong background in public policy, community outreach, interfaith organizing, and public affairs. Her career includes roles with the California State Senate, the City of New York, Habitat for Humanity, and the San Francisco Bay Area Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC).

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Metropolitan Studies and Politics from New York University and a Master of Urban Planning from City University of New York, Hunter College. Following college, Sarah lived in Tel Aviv, working closely with African asylum-seeking families and studying at the Secular Yeshiva, a project of the Bina Center for Jewish Identity and Hebrew Culture.

Originally from San Diego, Sarah has called the Bay Area home since 2016.
