David Hartman Center Fellow

Omer Michaelis is a Senior Research Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute; and a Senior Lecturer at Tel Aviv University’s department of Jewish Philosophy and Talmud.

Specializes in medieval Jewish thought and philosophy in the Islamicate world, Omer focuses on the dynamics of production, transmission and integration of knowledge in medieval Judaism, and its intersection with parallel processes in the Islamic culture.

Over the years, his work has received support from the Mandel Scholion Research Center at the Hebrew University, Harvard Standing Committee on Medieval Studies, the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte and the Israeli Council for Higher Education.
