Miriam Borden is a faculty member at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America.  

Miriam is a doctoral candidate in Yiddish Studies at the University of Toronto. Her dissertation, titled “For Women and Men Who Are Like Women: Popular Yiddish Culture and Its interpreters,” traces how practices of adaptation, translation, and other forms of mediation have been the central engine of Yiddish culture in the modern era. Her work has been supported by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and has been published in the Journal of Canadian Jewish Studies / Études juives canadiennes, In geveb, Hey Alma, The Forward, and Parchment.
