Daniel

May

Research Fellow

Daniel May is a Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. He received his PhD in Religion, Ethics, and Politics in the Department of Religion at Princeton University in 2020 and currently teaches at Hebrew Union College and serves as the publisher of Jewish Currents. His academic research is in 20th century Jewish political thought and political theory, with a focus on the relationship between Cold War liberalism and American Zionism. In addition to his academic work, Daniel has over two decades of experience in community, labor organizer and political organizing.

Daniel’s writing has appeared in Reform Judaism, The Nation, Tablet, Haaretz, and Jewish Currents. He graduated magna cum laude from Pomona College and holds a Masters in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School.
