Alex S. Ozar is the Director of Academic Programs at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. He previously served as the Campus Rabbi at the Slifka Center for Jewish Life and Co-Director of JLIC at Yale.

Alex studied in Yeshivat Kerem B-Yavneh for 2 years, and holds a BA, an MA, and rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva University. He has also earned a PhD in philosophy and religious studies from Yale with a dissertation entitled “‘Some Are Guilty, All Are Responsible’: A Theory and Ethics of Prophetic Citizenship.” His articles on Jewish thought and ethics have appeared in a variety of scholarly journals.

He and his wife Lauren Steinberg are the adoring parents of three children.
