The Shalom Hartman Institute New Paths: Christians Engaging Israel project has recently completed the materials for its first six-part course, entitled "Memories, Meanings, and Hopes."
These materials include a participant source book, leader’s guide, and videos used to teach each unit. Seven test groups assembled in churches across the United States began learning "Memories, Meanings and Hopes" in early January 2013. Four of these groups are being led by New Paths team members, and the other three are being led by local clergy. Participants and instructors at each site complete a survey after every class. The responses to these surveys are used to fine-tune course materials before mass production.
While the course is being tested in churches, the team is continuing its work to create materials for a version of "Memories, Meanings and Hopes" that will be appropriate for study in Divinity Schools.
