Meltzer Family Library Dedication

On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, Shalom Hartman Institute (SHI) leadership was honored to take part in the dedication of the Irwin and Beula (z"l) Meltzer Library at the Institute’s Midrashiya High School for Girls. Following addresses by Renana Ravitzky Pilzer, Head of the Midrashiya Beit Midrash, and Dr. Yehuda Kurtzer, President of Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, Mr. Donald Meltzer, Chair of the  SHI Board of Directors Executive Committee, represented the family with a moving speech. The Midrashiya choir acompanied the dedication proceedings, perfoming Eshet Chayil (woman of valour)  and El Mul Kirot Beiti (Near the Walls of My Home, originally produced by popular Israeli singer Idan Reichel).

Established in Jerusalem in 2007, the Hartman Institute Midrashiya High School for Girls has successfully implemented an authentic and coherent educational vision that fuses respect for Jewish tradition and learning with an obligation to halakha and feminist ideology. The school provides a holistic environment in which Orthodox teenage girls can advance intellectually, spiritually, and physically.
