In this Hebrew elective Irit Offer-Stark will explore how times of crisis force us to confront the most challenging ethical dilemmas.
The enormous burden of COVID on medical systems has turned theoretical questions regarding the allocation of medical resources during periods of shortage into real and disturbing moral dilemmas. Nations all over the world have been forced to decide which patients get priority and equipment in the face of shortages. Who will receive the ventilator and who will not receive the appropriate medical care? Who lives and who dies?
In these two sessions, we will analyze Jewish law and the way in which Jewish law influences public policy determinations in Israel.
