Hartman Gateway Fellowship

The Jewish people are facing important questions about citizenship, nationalism, democracy, and the societies in which we live. COVID-19 has already reshaped our attitudes about collective community, and is also raising issues of theology, spirituality and social responsibility.

The Hartman Gateway Fellowship is an opportunity for student leaders to study these questions, as well as provide thought leadership and educational leadership both on campus and towards Jewish community. The Fellowship will prepare participants for leadership in their communities, through teaching new ideas and frameworks for understanding big questions facing American Jewish life and developing the core leadership skills the Hartman Institute deems essential to lay and professional Jewish leadership. Fellows will study with senior Hartman faculty as part of our summer programming, All Together: Jewish Ideas for This Moment with Fellowship-specific learning opportunities including training and mentorship from Hartman faculty and staff, and culminating in a capstone project.

Dates:

June 22 – July 29, 2020

Eligibility:

Open to current college or university students

Additional Fellowship Details: 

• Six-week virtual internship led by Hartman faculty; participation in the entire Internship is required.
• Approximately three hours of programming, mentorship, self-directed study or assignments each day
• Fellowship will culminate with a capstone project selected from tracks within the Fellowship: Thought Leadership, Design Thinking, or EdTech
• Participation in the program is fully subsidized, and participants will be awarded a $750 stipend upon completion of the Fellowship.
