Rabbinic Student Seminar

An intensive year-long, experiential learning seminar for rabbinical students of all denominations spending the year in Israel.

The Rabbinic Student Seminar brings together a pluralistic cohort of exceptional and diverse North American rabbinic students for weekly dinner, seminar, and dialogue.

Join co-directors Rabbi Shoshana Cohen and Dr. Melila Hellner-Eshed and senior Hartman faculty in an intimate beit midrash of rabbinic fellows to process your year in Israel and address the challenges facing future rabbis.

Seminars include classical and contemporary, poetic, and mystical texts on topics such as:

  • Jewish Peoplehood and Solidarity
  • Power and Vulnerability
  • Love and Critique
  • The Path of Rabbinic leadership
  • Foundations of Jewish identity

Program includes weekly dinner, one Shabbat dinner and Shabbaton.

Semester I – October 10 – Dec 12, 2023 
Weekly cohort-based beit midrash style learning
Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:30 pm

Semester II – January 23 – April 2, 2024
Bi-weekly Hartman faculty lecture series
Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:00 pm

Application deadline is August 31, 2023

This program is offered free of charge. A suggested contribution of $ 200 will help defray food costs.
