The death of the right wing in Israel   (23/03/2009)

Quite Mistaken
I don`t plan to address the question of "who`s right," who`s left," and whether any political camp is alive or dead. What`s clear is that land for peace is a core left wing concept and it`s dead. 70% of the Jewish population is opposed, as repeated polls show. Lieberman`s speech yesterday means he`ll go through the motions without any intention of coming to an agreement. If Olmert couldn`t nobody can.

Hartman misses the real majority
Hartman is correct when he says that the right wing lost, and that the right/left divide is outdated. In that he agrees well with Moshe Feiglin. But Feiglin is correct that the majority in Israel is not right, nor left, but Jewish. Disturbingly, that majority so scares our current leaders that they have done their best to suppress the Jewish majority and keep it out of power. A Jewish state that rejects its Jewish majority cannot long stand.

The right did pretty good considering...
That the Government controlled media in Israel is left wing

well said, but ...
I agree with the analysis of the current configuration of political expression, but since I myself made aliya 5 years ago, I have grown steadily more right wing. I have no expertise in international relations, but I wish for more emphasis on Israel`s security, and more caution in entering deals that are mainifestly risky. As Shamir (I think) once said, "I know there`s a guarantee, but who`s going to guarantee the guarantee?"

death of right wing
I think politically it`s about time someone said kaddish on the bugabears of right (and left) wings in Israel. They can do damage (and good?), and do. But they are nowhere near the power of the center, with all its split into tribes. A good article.

On `death of Right-Wing`
The way you put it makes it appear you are correct, but the truth is that for the sake of a presenting a fully united appearance to the world authorities who make unlawful, wicked demands on our people,so as to appease Arabs and world Islam, a majority of 10 including the ultra religious and Nat.Union would be sufficient. the point being made here and which ipso facto you are avoiding is that the majority in Israel are, by definition of the eelection results right wing, but you are merely concentrating on what the outside world demands from us, and hence the obsequious, and fearful, cowering personal acceptance & wishes of PM Natanyahu, who let us down before and does the same repeatedly due to the above reasons and `weak` people like yourself. The PM is only one person so what type of democracy is that ? Moreover he was elected on his hardline right wing policy promises which he continuously retracts from.

Bad Looser you are.

Likud, Livni and Israel
It is a tragedy that people failed to see the future of Israel without Livni`s political philosophy. To have peace, Palestine,as a state, must exist and Israel have to technologically educate the Palestinian masses so they can survive without the oil producing nation`s help and cooperate with Israel

Politics
I agree with you most of the country is what you call "centre" I call "medusot" as in no backbone and flow with the current. Fed by the media wherever they want them to go. You forgot to mention the sectorial group of the left wing secular elitists, i wonder why. Anyway the right wing is alive and kicking and growing except it is constantly battled by the media and the "medusot" which are unpredictable. Next elections you`ll see an even clearer right wing victory. you can count on it

Elections
I agree completely that both right and left are in the past. Already when Shinui was voted in with 15 votes it was clear that Israelis are moving to the centre, now Israel Bitaynu has taken their place. Let`s hope the new government will last the 4 years it has been elected for
