Pluralistic-just how much?
Yes Farihan, I too thought i would be reading an article about Jerusalem as a city of ALL its inhabitants. Sadly, this seems beyond our scope.

Jerusalem UNDIVIDED
Either Israel will keep what is hers or disappear. If you can`t fight for Jeruslaem, what will you fight for?
Petra, USA, Dec 8 2008 7:26:00:000PM

divide the nation of G_d?
being an american, who supports israel, i think that any kind of division or giving up of land would be a mistake. yes peace is a good thing,...but i think a seeking after G_d would be a better thing..and trusting in Him to help give peace and rest to the war that continues. i, being and american, can testify that we too need to trust in G_d so we too can see a change in our nation for the better. May G_d continue to guide your foot steps.

Jerusalem the eternal and undivided capitol of Isr
AS an American Christian I live in a country that daily denies its past faith and pays a higher and higher price for it. I am amazed that you Jews have as poor a remembrance of your national history as we Americans. Your first human king, after you rejected G_d as your King, was a man named Sual. His first act as king was to call all Israel to fight against the amorites. Saul divide up a team of oxen and sent the pieces througjhout Israel with the threat that anyone who failed to show up for the battle his oxen would be slaughtered in the same manner. It has always appeared to me that G_d gave Israel a riddle in this approach. Something along the lines of, "If you give the Ammorites the tribute they demand, which was huge, they will not be satisfied with a leg, but will then require an arm and another until there will be nothing left of you. Israel`s program of land for peace is polical insanity. Israel already occupies only a fraction of what was granted by the original UN mandate and the UN mandate was only a fraction of what G_d entrusted to Israel. Quite wetting yourselves over this. Stand for the Word of G_d and God who made covenant with Abraham will Himself live up to His part of the everlasting covenant and fight for you.

Divide Jerusalem to Unite It
While the title of this piece is unfortunate, Rabbi Donniel Hartman`s comments truly reflect the pluralistic nature of Judaism and the Jewish community of Jerusalem. May Mr. Nir Barkat heed his words and may the city of Jerusalem and Israel as a whole come to recognize the intrinsic value of all streams of Judaism and create an environment that is open and respectful of all the citizens of the city and the country as a whole.
D. Charash, Israel, Dec 3 2008 2:58:00:000PM

Pluralism
The limitation of your pluralistic vision to "Jewish" trends (whatever that means) is arbitrary. You need to choose between principles or pluralism. True pluralism does not limit itself on racial or religious grounds. Upholding principles means that one can object to a trend, even if it happens to be a Jewish one. By the way, do you really condone Jews who demnd a right to settle in Judea and Samaria, despite their racial and religious background? The position you maintain may appeal to Jews who would like to think of themselves as pluralistic without actually embracing it, but it does not seem to be a coherent or consistent position. I doubt it will reap huge political benefits either.

Divide Jerusalem
Jerusalem has always been and will allways be a Jewish city. Other people may be there but that does not change the nature of the city. Never surrender one inch to anyone who does not believe in the G-d oof Abraham, Jacob and Issac. There are only two groups who believe in the one true G-d and they are Jews and Christians.

What is your position on the construction of the Wiesenthal center of "Tolerance" on top of the Muslim cemetery in Jerusalem? Have you commented on this important issue? Gershon Baskin

"DIVIDE JERUSALEM"
PLEASE, ISRIAL MUST NEVER LET THAT HAPPEN, GOD GAVE ALOT OF LAND TO ISRIAL AND IT SHOULD ALWAYS REMAIN AND BELONG ONLY TO ISRIEL, GOD BLESS ISRIAL, NEVER GIVE UP ONE INCH OF ISRIAL FOR ANY REASON, THIS IS A GIFT FROM GOD TO ISRIAL,NEVER GIVE UP ANYTHING GOD GAVE TO ISRIAL, "BLESS YOU ALL"
CHRIS LENNON, AMERICA, Nov 30 2008 12:20:00:000AM

Don`t Divide Jerusalem
This article has an unfortunate and highly politicized title, "Dividing Jerusalem, "which mis-represents much of its visionary content. For dividing Jerusalem is a terribly mistaken position, that would be an act of religious negligence on our part. As radical Islamist intolerance spreads across the Middle East and South Asia with increasing attacks against Buddhist sites, Shiite Mosques, and Christian churches, it is clear that only a free and democratic Israel will protect the holy sites of Jerusalem for all the great faiths. United Jerusalem is where the Jewish people`s universalistic responsibility to the protection of all the holy sites converges with our particualistic claim to sovereignty. It also doesn`t serve your blog to be associated with "divding Jerusalem". In a survey, published in October by the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Herzliya Inter-Disciplinary Center, eighty-five percent said they opposed dividing Jerusalem in exchange for peace with the Palestinians. "Diving Jerusalem" may have been proposed by outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, but it is supported by only an extreme minority in Israel in 2008. The important messages of your institute should reach out to the broad Israeli population. Dore Gold

Jerusalem
Jerusalem must be and remain united. It is illusory to believe that dividing Jerusalem there will be peace (see Gaza Strip). Moreover there is absolutely no reason to divide it.Muslim have Mekka and Medina. During the centuries of Muslim rule over Jerusalem, the city had neither political nor religious importance. And lasr Jerusalem is never mentioned in the Koran. Ralph

Dividing Jerusalem
The writer seems to ignore the fact that one third of the people of Jerusalem are Arabs. Dividing it between different kinds of Jews is not the only issue, surely, major as that may be?
