Letter to Barak Obama
Dear Donniel, We can agree that a new American President should take his time to learn about the Israel Arab Conflict, but I, unlike one of the writers, am not encouraged by those surrounding the President-Elect. I agree that the presence of Dennis Ross is the "bright side" of the coming Obama Administration, but there are many others whose presence is quite troubling. Zionists everywhere, with time, will find that President George W. Bush was an unparalleled friend. Oslo failed because the other side had not changed its mind. No peace will come until the Arabs give up the hope of destroying Israel. Certainly their leaders have not, but even opinion poles suggest that the Arab population at large is still unwilling to give up on the goal of Israel`s destruction. The new American President would do well, as you suggest to take his time. In fact, I would encourage him to say to the Arabs, "You want to make peace with Israel? Great, call up your neighbors, make a deal, and call me when you are done. We`ll celebrate!" All the best to your family, Steve

Letter to Obama
The Jewish people world wide never learned the lesson of the Holocost, there are people who want us dead for no other reason than that we are Jews. Hitler had close relations with Islam in the Middle East . Palestinians will NEVER make peace with us because they are taught from childhood and every Friday that we are non human swine and it is their duty to slaughter us. Have you forgot the two teenage boys lost in a cave on a field trip in Israel who were SLAUGHTERED by the Palestinian towns people when found. We are taught to seek peace with all men they are taught to kill. Oslo was a catistophic failure and Bark Obama is no friend to Israel. His fathers birth certificate has him as an Arab. Barak is 50% white, 33% Arab and 17% Black African. He changed his name to an Arab name because he identifies with them, Islam. My brothers and sisters WAKe UP!!! We must do as King David did , force peace upon the decendants of his enemys, the Palestinians. In Solomons time there was peace because his father distroyed the enemy with in. They haven`t forgotten all these centuries, but we have.

learn and do otherwise
I don`t get it: Usually when something doesnt work you learn the subject and rectify the solution, No? Oslo was problematic because the Arabs didnt abide by it (Violence and desecration of Holy places), and the Israelis did everything wrong around it being "Eiberchochems" (Yiddish for "Wiseguys")which ticked off the Arabs, perceiving it as betrayal. In addiditon, allowing the mediators time to learn the subject was found to be detrimental to the issue over the years. So lets start our advice all over: President Obama, Hurry, and note the mistakes the parties made and fix them: Don`t let the Arabs let the details slip, and for the Israelis: Don`t let us outsmart the legal issues and find loopholes: We are all in this to solve the problem - not create more issues.

Doing the math
Time, as you have so clearly indicated, is not on the side of the angels here. Take too long about it and the situation degenerates even further into hopelessness. Too little time spent on the matter and mistakes will be made whose consequences are largely unforeseen and of mostly negative aspect. Words and ideas can sometimes alter the timeline of history but, unless they are backed by something more substantial than their own mere formulation, they tend to have little impact on actual events. If time is the enemy, then it behoves us all to enlist any enemy of time wherever it can be found. We need to stop or greatly slow down the speed at which things move in order that a more deliberate and balanced influence can be focused on the conflict in question. It may be that words and ideas, by themselves, will never be sufficient unto the task. Then, what about adding NUMBERS to the list? At least the language there is already universal, needs no special translation and is well understood and received across the whole spectrum of humanity. And, as for an application of this, here`s one you might consider. http://yorketowers.blogspot.com

Letter to Obama
It is truly tragic that you and so many of your Jewish brethren are unable to recognize your enemies or even worse your own significance as a people. As your enemies circle to devour you, your own people fall prey to the lies that would deprive the Jewish people of their inheritance and birth right. Until the Jewish people come to grips with the reality that your enemies hate you simply because "you exist," they will continue to bow to the world`s wishes to slowly lay down and die with every new concession. Peace does not come by compromise.

Bravo
Great letter. Directly on point, realistic and heartfelt. Do not listen to the nincompoops who would have had the USA under the thumb of John McCain and - gasp! - Sarah Palin, a result which would indeed have been tragic for the US, Israel and the rest of the world. We got a leader with a brain that he is not afraid to use for the betterment of all who have suffered under the dangerous idiocy of the Bush clan.

To Donniel from Obama
Don`t worry, after I talk to the terrorist, I will talk to you. Meanwhile, pack up everyone and move out of the Golan Heights, same for East Jerusalem. Yeah, we all have to do what we gotta do, so bite the bullet, let`s get this peace deal done. Issue of beliefs, wake up! In a new world order we don`t address that issue. I`m in a rush about this overdue peace deal so do me a big favor, give the land back, take your destiny with ya, and oh yeah, have a great day, I know I will! Peace! Barak Hussein Obama.

Dear Mr. Hartman-I thought your letter was very sensitive and nice, but very naive. Your support of Oslo in the past and your stated continuation of it in the future just confirms that you are in an ivory academic tower and out of touch with reality. How sad :(

letter to Obama
Barack Obama is a complete cypher, choosing carefully to leave much of his young adult life unmentioned in his two autobiographies. But he is certainly not what he seems, not what he claims, not what people want him to be. He is essentially antisemitic and pro muslim, although not perhaps as much as some loonies on the right believe.. but any change in the stance of America in that direction cannot be good for Israel, which I love with all my heart. God bless you all there, and for your sake I hope I am wrong about the One. I think, though, that I am not.

Letter to Obama
Dear Mr. Hartman: Your letter is very nice. You speak from your heart. I think that the day when a Palestinian will send a similar letter to president-elect Obama, we probably will be on the road to peace.

letter to Obama
Donniel, A friend in diplomacy recently said to me regarding the candidates running for president,"If you want to know how they`ll be inrelation to Israel (or just about anything else) look at their advisers. President elect Obama`s number one guy here is Dennis Ross. Many believe no one understands the nuanced complexities that the mid east presents and that Israel is challenged by better then Ambassador Ross. for you and your readers, beyong this issue, is the knowledge that Dennis Ross truly "gets it" regarding Israel;it`s strategic importance , its historical significance, and its place in the ongoing jewish narreative that Dennis is a part of.... So Donniel, perhaps these are times to breathe with cautious optimism. The challenges are great, but we may have the guy with the "right stuff" to lead us. Kol Tuv, David

Israel, Be afraid, be very afraid. Mark my words. This is not going to be pretty. His advisors care nothing for you.

Letter to Obama
A beautifully written letter with some good advice and thoughtful insights. Unfortunately it is addressed to the man you hope Obama is, not the man he actually is. His motives are not good, they are bad and comprised of two components; his own best interests and the best interests of his radical American and Palestinian pals. You don`t spend years at the feet of Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Khalishi and come away with a benign view of Israel. You come away hating Israel. His election is the worst possible outcome for Israel and for America. The fact that most American Jews voted for him is appalling. We will rue the day. I will be very, very happy to have my prediction above proven wrong.

Donniel`s letter to Obama
Dear Donniel: What a beautiful letter, I fully concur with you. I hope that it won`t get lost among all the mail that he receives. I must admit, however, that I was shocked that you did not mention Iran`s existential threat to Israel. As usual I enjoy the SHI video-conferences and hope to see you next summer at your midrasha. All the best, Isaac

Letter to Obama by Donniel Hartman
I think you are right on track to encourage Obama to take the time to educate himself, and to know that t it is the small details that will anable to change. However,I do not agree that you should never question motives. As a Jewish American, I feel stronglty that motives play the essential role in determining foreign policy here in the United States, and we as supporters of Israel and as Jews must be well ahead of the game-- to keep apprised of the issues on many levels, to, continuously speak out, to keep our government representatives informed and coax them to stand up for Israel, even though some of these issues might conflict with what is in the "best Interest" for the United States. So, I vote for always questioning, analyzing, and challenging motives-even of the President.
